In this second video, we'll dive into the benefits of working with the ACES color space and how to set it up in both Unreal Engine and Davinci Resolve. The Academy Color Encoding System (ACES) provides a standardized open framework for managing color and tone from content creation to final delivery.

We'll first look at why using ACES is recommended for high-end CGI, VFX and animation workflows. It preserves the full dynamic range from scene lighting all the way through encoding for delivery. Then, I'll show you how to configure Unreal Engine 5's scene color space to ACES to enable its pipeline.

After that, I'll demonstrate setting up an ACES compatible project in Davinci Resolve 18. This allows Resolve to understand the color data coming from Unreal. From there, we can accurately grade our render passes while maintaining the full tonal range.

Finally, I'll walk through taking an ACES linear EXR render from Unreal into Resolve and applying some basic corrections. You'll see how the extended latitude of ACES allows for subtle yet effective adjustments to elevate the look of a scene.

By setting up Unreal and Resolve for an ACES workflow, you can leverage the full benefits of high dynamic range rendering and coloring. Be sure to catch both parts of this tutorial to maximize the potential of your UE5 projects in compositing.

Let me know if any part needs more explanation!
