About Saving Your Image
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Saving is an essential part of all programs including Photoshop. While relatively simple, it's important to know the basics.
1. While you have a file open, click on File -- Save in the top menu bar. You can also press Ctrl+S (Command+S for Mac) on your keyboard to perform the same function. If your file has been previously saved, it will save on its own. If not, a new dialogue box will appear that allows you to save the file with a new name at a location of your choice. This will also happen if you choose the Save As option.
2. At the top of the dialogue box you have the option to name your file. Below, you have options regarding where to save your file. Options on how to do this vary depending on your operating system.
1. 3. One of the more important options is the ability to save your picture in different formats. Photoshop or PSD is the format you will use when you're not done editing your file or when you want to save it for the future. The other formats vary depending on your needs and will prove to be an essential asset for saving files.
2. 4. You also have the option to save your image As a Copy, and if the image has them you can save separate elements such as layers, channels and notes.
