What a lovely treat Gumpy Function has for us with this Simpsons pixelart fan game. It is so lovely detailed when you are loving the old, really old Simpsons Episodes that came out when also Point and Click Adventure games had their golden era. This game is a loveletter to those old episodes of The Simpsons, there are so many insider gags in the game, just like the game itself appeared on the TV series. So this is actually the sequel to Lee Carvallo's Putting Challenge, the golf game, and it is an adventure game and we get to play as Lee Carvallo and find out how he got to even make the famous first game in the first place and follow the story of his life in Springfield.
All in all it has a lot of cool story for the little idea about the game that appeared in one episode of the Simpsons, and we even revisit that episode where Bart rather wants Bonestorm instead of the Golf game. So be assured that Bart and Marge appear in the game as well as Homer (as Mr Plow), Moe(!), Mr Burns and Smithers as well as Kent Brockman for a moment.
The art is really well done with the limited colors and canvas size of the gameboy and known characters. There is not much animation happening, you play in ego perspective and noone has a walkcycle or is walking. The music is also playing along really well, although youtube complains about a copyrighted melody at 1:48 and some (yeah, not even a music track but a melody, but I'll challenge that claim...). The puzzles are part times fun, part times frustrating, I tried to work on the metal Krusty-O by using it on the shoes to stomp it but it didn't work. It took me waaaaay toooo loooong to find out you need to use the shoes with the metalring and not the metal ring with the shoes. d'oh! Not good game design! For your viewing please this was cut. The second time escaping the house is a bit weird to solve, it makes no sense for the Simpsons universe, but it makes sense for a point and click so it is still fun to solve.
And as a nerd-bonus, to make this incredible game even better, the game you play is a real gameboy game-file, you can play it on a real gameboy when you manage to load the file onto it. And there is even a Joyboy in the game that features the very same game, very cool...

André & Wally Productions present Lee Carvallo's Putting Challenge 2, a sequel to the wholly unsuccessful, critically panned golfing simulator released back in 1995.

In this Point & Click Adventure, you play as Lee Carvallo. Puzzle your way through a series of events in his life. Sleep where he sleeps, eat what he eats, golf where he golfs!
