Left 4 Dead 2 - Vocalize Command Unblocker (Dedicated Servers)
11So, the DLL I'm modifying uses some kind of self-mutating algorithm, making it rather difficult making a hard fix.
So I made a small program that does what I do... It scans the server memory, finds the vocalize command, then patches the shit out of it, and voilá.
It's in times like these, that I'm glad I'm a bit more than just an ordinary geek ;)
How the block works:
Before the block were made by valve, the command "vocalize" only required 1 parameter. The vocalization to use (ie. "vocalize PlayerHelp").
Now... The block works like this.
The radialmenu has been changed to pass a second parameter to all commands, so if you in your radialmenu puts "command" "vocalize PlayerHelp", the game will apply a second parameter when triggering the radial menu item.
example:
vocalize PlayerHelp #3420
The #3420 is a number that increases all the time while the server is running.
The parameter must match that number, or it will be ignored.
That's why you can't call it from the console. Because you're missing the second parameter. And you couldn't possible know what the number currently is.
My current patcher, doesn't remove the need of this second parameter.
It does, however, make the server not care what number you put.
That is why I put #0 in the video. Note, however, that the parameter must be #X where X is a number... If you passs eg. ABC as the second parameter, it will still fail, as it still reads the number.
