Lessons In Forgiveness: Spider-Man 3 vs. Avatar: The Last Airbender
4It takes a lot to forgive. It takes even more to tell a quality story about forgiveness. It's one of the hardest stories to pull off and one that can easily fall apart, taking the rest of the story with it. But it can be done. And when it works, it's amazing.
To illustrate, I made this video to highlight an example of a forgiveness story done very well and one that's done exceptionally poorly. One is Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 3. The other is Avatar: The Last Airbender. Both tell amazing stories, but forgiveness is a big part of both. They're stories worth telling and while one works better than the other, the message is still worth conveying.
