Mostly because of the flat terrain, high amount of souls and scattered but dense dudes.

So, the Pattern Buffer feels very unusual and alien, with every reason to call it such. Weird trees, very flat areas with massively steep mountains and arena-shaped bowls filled with enemies.

Then there's the easy way to get lots of Darwinians.
I dunno, this mission is a rough start but once you get going it's just bleh.

Not to say it's not VERY atmospheric and mystic. I love the unique and clashing design, feeling unnatural and jagged and forced and quirky, compared to the flowing landscape of other levels.
