1Time to check the Demo of "Astlibra Revision", a 2D side scrolling action JRPG, made mostly solo, by one developer, KEIZO.
The game started years ago, as a japanese only freeware game and now with have on Steam the revision, that was being worked for 14 years, the final and improved version of the game.
"Astlibra Revision" has well made 2D graphics, with nice backgrounds and great sprites for enemies. Especially bosses look impressive. Also it has a surprising good soundtrack.
The gameplay is a mix of metroidvania and a JRPG, with many abilities to unlock, equipment to gather and level up and many more. The combat is fast, controls are responsive and overall it has a satisfying "arcade" feel to it. We get only a glimse of the story from this demo, but it seems to be pretty interesting.
This game feels like a hidden gem, a well made game, that not many know about. I think fans of metroidvania games, or JRPG, especially side scrolling ones, like Odin Sphere and Valkyrie Profile, should check it out. I know i will...eventually!
