Let's Grind - CrossCode - Part 112 - The Locals are Restless
I actually appreciate the way CrossCode makes nods at various video game troops. In this case we're looking at a nod towards the way that video games try to approach social consciousness. Some games do it very well, but in a lot of cases games approach it a very awkward fashion by including a story arc or two that touches on an issue in a very surface manner. We've had this mentioned before when Emilie rolled her eyes at the story arc with the mine and the greed of humanity.
This is largely the problem I had with Greedfall in that it tried to approach the evils of colonialism in a way that unfortunately came out as sort of an apologist's approach. On the other hand you get games like Monster Prom which is very much a tongue-in-cheek sledgehammer approach but still addresses the question of broader sexuality and relationships from a much more genuine and honest direction than most other attempts out there.
This game isn't particularly commenting on a social issue so much as it is commenting on the video game industry's attempts to capitalize on social issues. That said, in order to do so, they had to choose a typical issue to use and they went with the colonialism mistreatment of natives and/or the miscommunication between factions.
This video is posted under fair use laws as a commentary on the video game and a showcasing on methods of clearing each section.
