I don't know, but the game is skipping between being good, sloppy, true to it's cheesy heart and disorganised.

NOTE: The crashing might actually be Fraps or my drivers being updated. Pretty weird.

That being said, let me explain how I look at things.
Before I do that, you should consider playing this game if you want to make your own. Experience about bad design, writing and so forth CAN be gained by playing other people's work. Try to figure out why review scores are low, why the game feels off, what makes a bad game bad! Learning is part of growth, making mistakes fertiliser. After all, it points out your weaker parts, allowing you to focus on those.

Though I am quite the optimist. I don't call a game terrible or completely garbage as a final opinion very often, normally it's either eh or okay at worst.
This game does make a case for itself. Again, not every indie company is made of people who made Banjo or Contra, sometimes there are new, fresh members with little to no experience who are eager to use ideas. It's best to tell these people what does and doesn't work, and help propagate a stimulation and friendly independent community. Don't bash early work, unless you want to become the AAA industry.

Either way, this game has a few obvious flaws and issues, but like I said, you live you learn. What better way to never make a mistake again than to reflect on it and learn? My first work as a commentator, writer and programmer were all GARBAGE, because I didn't know what to expect, what tricks and details to add. Ultimately, I'm better now, carrying the experiences I gained and the faults I corrected.

That being said, there's is a moment you reach a peak and then everyone starts calling you 'mediocre' despite your work still being amazing, but not as different as your magnum opus was compared to contemporary works.
