TES Morrowind Episode 54: Nintendo and timing.
1This isn't the time or the place to talk about it, but think about it REALLY hard.
Nintendo isn't doing amazing. The console market is kinda failing to keep up with the mobile market, Sony releases a handle of the Holy Grail in console form adn Microsoft is about to shoot off it's own legs with the Xbox 8. EVERYONE BUT NINTENDO is on the news. Not just that, they ARE the news, as every website has at least one article on both prominently on the front page.
Nintendo is just this guy in the corner, selling an OVERLY gimmicky console that just doesn't appeal to anyone because fuck Nintendo's policies. We don't WANT an iPad console and the developers don't NEED an iPad gimmick. It's working against them.
Worst yet, THAT problem has lost it's shine too and nobody wants to talk about it but industry analysts. So they lost that topic too.
Naturally, getting attention on them helps bring out the limelight. there's a few ways this "LPers please die and give us YOUR money which WE technically own anyway":
- MORE MONEY
- More controversy which means more frontpages!
- More chances to put THEIR adds everywhere.
Basically, it's a win-win for the most part, until you realise this is kinda like shooting yourself in the foot for health insurance. Yes, you got money and attention, but you don't have a foot anymore. Perhaps it cost you more than you hoped to gain.
Either way, this might get dropped later when Nintendo feels better, or Nintendo will die with this clenched in it's hands. Maybe Miyatomato will go "THIS BAD MAN" and revs up the PR a bit.
I DUNNO.
I'm just a guy thinking things that kinda make sense but don't have to be related. Maybe it's a coincidence. Maybe this has been on Nintendo's to-do list for a while! I can't be sure, because research is for scientists and I am an IT-Specialist in making.
