Part 1 of Geek Aloud's playthrough in #12Minutes (2021) on the @Xbox Series X.

From the Wikipedia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Twelve_Minutes):
Twelve Minutes is an adventure game developed by Luís António and published by Annapurna Interactive, released on August 19, 2021 for Microsoft Windows, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. The game, taking place in a small apartment suite and areas around it, requires the player to repeatedly play through events of a 12-minute cycle to try to solve a mystery.

Twelve Minutes is played from a top-down perspective of an apartment suite shared by a man and his wife, including the main living and kitchen area, their bedroom, and bathroom. The player controls the husband during these events in the style of a point-and-click adventure game, where he is free to do various actions. Without taking certain actions, over the course of the first 12 minutes, the man learns his wife is pregnant, but a police officer arrives at the apartment, accuses the wife of murdering her father several years ago, and in trying to arrest her, knocks out the husband and attacks and kills the wife and her unborn child. The game then restarts at the original point, at which point the player can now try to take actions to learn the wife is a suspect, how to prevent her arrest, or other actions as to find a "best" result over the next 12 minutes, otherwise they restart the 12 minutes over. However, the player is not given any exact information of what this goal is, leaving it up to them to explore how to resolve the situation. The man is the only character that retains knowledge of the previous cycles, such as knowing about the impending arrest, and this information can be used to perform other actions in future cycles.[1] This gameplay loop has been compared to The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask.[2] While the main loop lasts only 12 minutes in real time, the game is expected to take a player between 6 and 8 hours to complete.[3]

A man returns to his apartment after work and is greeted by his wife, who surprises him that she is pregnant. As they start to celebrate, a cop knocks on their door and asks to be let in as the wife is under suspicion of murder. When they open it, the cop attacks both of them, binds their hands, and then proceeds to strangle the man to death.

The man suddenly finds himself back when he entered the apartment, about twelve minutes prior, and realizes he is in a time loop. He tries to convince his wife that he is in a loop, but she remains doubtful. The man spends one loop hiding to see how the cop interacts with the wife alone, and discovers he was looking for a watch that belonged to her father that was hidden in a vent. The man manages to figure out that the cop wants the watch to fund his daughter's cancer treatment. In another loop, the husband gets the watch and asks his wife about it. She reveals that her father did not actually die of a heart attack seven years ago, but she had killed him as he had an affair with her nanny that drove her mother away. She then fled that night with the watch, where she met her husband-to-be at a bar.

The cop is later revealed to be a friend of the father who is accusing the wife for her father's murder. The man further investigates and manages to prove that his wife wasn't the killer, and approach the cop peacefully where the three deduce that the wife was mistaken and the father's true killer was her half-brother, who was borne out the father's affair. Even after successfully resolving the situation, the man is still trapped in a loop.

Agonized about still being stuck in the loop, the man decides to apprehend the cop and to ask him about the nanny's name. The man realizes that the nanny was his mother, making him the brother. Despite admitting the truth to his disgusted wife and to the cop in the next loop, the loop refuses to close. The man is forced to relive the truth: the cop was actually the father, who revealed to him that they were siblings and they should break off their love. After a brief scuffle, he accidentally shot the father and had to flee the scene.

The man returns to reality, where he is still talking with his father about falling in love with his sister. If the man decides to accept his father's proposal to leave her, he enters a loop where the apartment is empty and he is alone. If the man decides to allow the father to talk to him honestly about his trauma with the revelation, the player can continue by reversing time or end their game. The final option shows the man deciding to let his father hypnotize him to forget his sister, causing the loops to begin once again.
