Alan Wake follows the titular main character and his wife, Alice Wake, on their vacation to the rustic town of Bright Falls. Alan, a best-selling author, is in the throes of a prolonged stretch of writers block. Before long the plot to a novel he has no recollection of writing begins to unfold and Alan must unravel the mystery.
Or, as Penny Arcade puts it, "Alan Wake is about a writer, writing about another writer, who is writing about himself and ANOTHER FUCKING WRITER!"
