Let’s Play Black Mesa #04: That Could Have Gone Better [Strobe Warning]

This is a blind playthrough. Kindly avoid posting spoilers in the comments or solutions to puzzles either in this video or future ones so as not to spoil the experience for me or those that haven’t seen the game before.
Alright. Let’s take a moment to catch our breath and work through what just happened so that we don’t panic.
The experiment went horribly wrong, causing untold damage throughout the Black Mesa facility and inflicting an equally unknown about of casualties. Worse yet, it appears to have caused what the scientists feared could happen: a Resonance Cascade. One of the effects of this is the opening of many portals to a far-off world – one of which we were pulled through – that contain strange alien beings and while not all of them appear to be hostile, we can’t presume that they’ll all be peaceful. Fortunately for us, our time in the strange land was brief and we were returned to where we were on Earth, surrounded by destruction, chaos and doom.
I know a lot of things have gone wrong and even more things are likely going to be wrong very quickly but there’s one thing working in our favour: we’re still alive. So long as we’re alive there’s a chance, however slim, that we can escape from the facility and go to get help. That’s going to be no small task considering the place is about to fall apart everywhere we look but we have to try. It beats waiting where we are for the ceiling to collapse in on us or for the fires to spread further and burn us to a crisp, that’s for sure.
