There is a little bit of sound echo during some of the battles (usually the sound of an attack hitting another monster). Sorry about that.

We have our first battle and decide to pick on Norgard first because the king is a dick.

I think I hinted that Unicorns start with Heal and Halo. This is not true, they start with Heal and Cure then learn Halo if you upgrade them into a Pegasus.

We get ourselves a few brand new knights who start at level 1 and yet has more MP and Rune Power than some of my higher level characters.

There is nothing wrong with using the already upgraded high level knights. Just be aware they level slowly so their stats and Rune Power do not improve much throughout the game. I generally prefer lower level characters since they level up and get boosts to their already high Rune Power and MP. More Rune Power means more monsters and bigger monsters.
