This is also my first full playthrough of the game. Kindly avoid posting spoilers in the comments or solutions to puzzles either in this video or future ones so as not to spoil the experience for me or those that haven’t seen the game before.
Resurrection of Evil has more new enemies than weapons and we’ve already received two of them – the Grabber and the Artefact – but the other new arrival isn’t actually that new at all. It first made its debut in Doom 2 and quickly became a fan favourite for its huge stopping power at close range and the easy availability of its ammunition. I am of course referring to the Super Shotgun and while it’s called the double barrelled shotgun here, we all know its real name.
In this game, it serves much the same purpose as it did in the earlier entries of the series, providing a heavy-hitting blast at close range that’s offset by a long reload time that occurs after every shot. Lesser enemies will easily fall to a single direct hit and even more dangerous foes from the latter parts of the main game will perish to but a few blasts but beware the lack of staggering and the reload time. Both leave you vulnerable and must be planned for lest you get torn apart by the demons you seek to vanquish.
