Let's Play Dragon Quest 8 (Part 3): Cheese makes the world go round!
In 2006, Square-Enix released Dragon Quest VIII in the west to rave reviews. It is often regarded as the game that really put Dragon Quest on the map outside of Japan (a lot may be attributed to coming with a demo of Final Fantasy XII), and likewise, it is regarded as one of the best and most accessible entry into the series. Initially old school to a fault, the west saw additions to the game like an updated menu system, symphonic music, and most importantly, voice acting. However, the main gameplay stayed the same allowing it to please newbies as well as veterans alike. Personally, it is one of my favs and I have only grown to appreciate it more with time.
Off to Alexandra Tower for this as we meet everyone's favorite buxom fan service of Dragon Quest, Jessica Albert... the camera is always smart enough to get the best of angles. Bianca is still best though. Can't beat wholesome.
Anyway, fan service aside, Jessica is one of the better characters in the series, so it helps her break away from that fan servicey stuff and by the end of the game, you are hardly thinking about that. Even with that, she still isn't the best character in the game, but that's not a knock on her at all...
