Now that I have scared everyone away with tons of exposition and explaining of mechanics, lets get this game going.

What hero is best to start with varies depending on what special features a shard has (some shard types completely cripple Warriors and Scouts) as well as what buildings and units you have access to. In the early game, Wizards tend to lack the high level spell access to take advantage of all their higher level magic slots.

You also need to decide what units you want making up your force. Some units are better than others but at the cost of higher prices and upkeep. I generally go with Swordsmen and Healers. Healers are pretty much a must as they speed your health regen outside of combat as well as heal during battle. Swordsmen are extremely expensive but have really high defense along with Parry (boosts defense against first melee attack each turn).

If you want to save money and don't mind the Morale hits, Barbarians are really good attacks with ok health. They lack defense and have horrible counter attacks though (they can do a range attack once per battle though).

Due to how fast the AI grows in this game, you cannot really afford to waste turns. So major losses may end with me reloading a save. I will try not to rely too much on this, hopefully.
