I show off things you should not fight then make a push along the southern route to reach our opponent.

The AI is almost ALWAYS higher level than you. Notice the level difference and this was with me save scumming to ensure I was gaining exp nearly every turn (minus turns spent on moving).

Garrisons are an efficient way to protect your lands while your hero is off doing other things. Garrisons generally have 9-11 units (Ogre garrisons have 6 i think) and may include a few higher ranking units depending on the type. Garrisons do have upkeep costs or some sort of penalty to ensure you do not just put them everywhere. Some Garrisons have secondary effects (raising and reducing mood, improved healing, more visibility) which can lead to weaker Garrisons being worth hiring just for those perks.
