Chapter 7x: The Black Shadow. First Side Quest/Gaiden Chapter of the game. Lyn has chased after the group known as the Black Fang. They've apparently stolen an important ring from Ninian, and she seeks to get it back. Splitting your army down a few paths would be a wise decision here. I like to send Sain,Erk,Lucius, and Matthew down the left side. Lyn should be fine going down the middle, just watch for enemy units spawning from the walled-in section on the right. Dorcas with a Hand Axe and Kent with Javelins should be able to handle the Soldiers and Mages that spawn from there. Then I like to send those two down the right path. Lyn should be able to handle the Bandit and Mercenaries at the top of the middle path, though send Serra along just in case. Matthew can steal the Lockpicks from the Thief that appears, preventing it from opening the chest in the room. It has a Hammer in it,an Axe that deals more damage to Knights. Lucius and Erk can handle the Mage and Shaman that spawn a little later by the boss. The boss is called Beyard,a Mercenary with a Steel Sword. He's kinda tough, but has no way of countering ranged attacks and doesn't move. Magic users and anyone with a ranged attack can dispatch him pretty easily. The man takes his own life after the fight, and Lyn ends up getting Ninian's ring back for her.
