Let's Play Gotcha Force - Part 5 - E3 2015 Impressions (Nintendo)
We're talking about our E3 2015 Impressions in Gotcha Force Part 5! After watching the Sony e3 conference, the Microsoft Xbox E3 Conference, the EA conference, the Ubisoft conference, and the Nintendo Direct for E3, we wanted to sit down and talk about our thoughts and impressions. In this episode we're focusing mostly on Nintendo's showing.
Ultimately I'm left a little underwhelmed after watching Nintendo's E3 2015 Nintendo Direct. It was alright, but nothing there had that Wow factor I was looking for. The surprises were pretty tame, and a lot of what was shown was old news. Star Fox Zero for Wii U does look pretty cool. I like the transformations, and the game looks very Star Fox. It's definitely cool that Platinum Games is involved. This would have been a much more exciting announcement is we didn't already know about it though.
The Legend of Zelda Tri Force Heroes looks like a lot of fun. But in comparison to Four Swords Adventures for Gamecube, I'm sad that they're saying this game will be a lot less competitive. I loved the contrast in Four Swords between competing and cooperating.
Mario and Luigi Paper Jam does look pretty sweet. I love both the Paper Mario and Mario & Luigi series. If this game is anything like either itteration, I think this will be a blast. Yokai Watch does look neat. Hyrule Warriors Legends for 3DS is nothing new... just a portable version of a game I own on Wii U. Pass.
Super Mario Maker does look amazing and it's definitely my most anticipated game. The Nintendo World Championship got me more excited about this game than the Nintendo Direct did though. The Amiibo support does look cool though. Mario Tennis Ultra Smash looks like fun. I love Mario Tennis. But it's not much of a surprise. It'll more or less be more of the game of a good thing. And Yoshi's Wooly World looks excellent, but more than anything I was dissapointed by how much later we'll be seeing it in North America. The release date seems oddly far away compared to Japan and Europe.
Everything else I liked we already knew about. Xenoblade Chronicles, Fire Emblem Fates, Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem... and the rest I wasn't happy with. Animal Crossing Happy Home Academy isn't for me, and Animal Crossing Amiibo Festival just upset me, because I was expecting a full fledged Wii U game after the amiibos were shown. The board game looks overly simplistic and kind of boring.
Metroid Prime Federation Force and Blast Ball is a Star Fox Adventures situation. We're pissed off because we really want a new Metroid Prime game and this isn't it. It's generic space chibi 3 player shooter and soccer mini game. It looks like it could be OK.... but it should say Metroid Prime on it. At the very least they could hint at a REAL Metroid Prime game for the future. Having Zelda Wii U missing really hurt them, and where was Fatal Frame Wii U, and Bravely Second? I was also hoping to see more DLC announcements for Smash and Mario Kart. If Ryu & Roy weren't leaked and were showed at e3, that would have helped a lot.
All in all it feels like the Wii U is winding down as they prepare for their next system, which really dissapoints me as it feels like the Wii U is just gaining Momentum.
Gotcha Force is a 3D fighter/shooter video game for the Nintendo GameCube. It's one of my favorite games and we're excited to show off the gameplay as Lin and Max do this Gotcha Force Walkthrough!
