Let's Play Make a Good Mega Man Level Contest 2 - #08: Subway to Mediocrity
In this part of Make a Good Mega Man Level Contest 2 (PC), I do some shopping for upgrades and costumes, explore changes in the Hub World, and complete the first four levels in the Tier 4 station.
To be frank, these levels (outside of "Alien Temple" and "Neon Man") are basically what I'd consider average or mediocre quality for a MaGMML level. They have some solid work put into them, but the execution is marred with flaws and rough edges, and not all of the expressed ideas' potentials are explored. Plus, the gimmicks/ideas may not be inspired or novel either.
"Alien Temple" feels below average to me, as it's really just a boss battle against the Rainbow Alien. If this was Mega Maker, I'd rate it more highly. But, this is a level designing contest, so I mark it down more harshly.
"Neon Man" on the other hand, feels more like an above average stage to me. It explored its screen distortion gimmick sufficiently enough, had new enemy types, had a custom boss battle at the end, and didn't outstay its welcome.
