Let's Play Mariovania - #23: Distorted Abyss & Final Item Collection
4In this part, I defeat the 13th and final Chaos Core at the Distorted Abyss. I then collect the most of the last equipment and items I missed.
Honestly, the Distorted Abyss isn't that difficult compared to it's non-distorted version. Sure, there's that hallway with the two Dark Stars. But other than that, it's rather manageable. Even the final Chaos Core is easier than the 12th one. It's certainly much less frantic compared to having to track three different attacks at the same time.
To get the Arcane Sword and the Chaos Flower, you'll need to do the following things:
* Get the Clock item, and either the Warrior Emblem or a bunch of star restoring items.
* Get the Iron Wear random drop from killing Titans. You'll need to repeatedly use the Clock to prevent the Titans from walking off-screen. Any attack against these will only deal 1 damage, so I suggest trying to trap the Titans against a low ceiling so you can jump faster on them.
* Equip the Iron Wear and travel to the bottom shaft at the Distorted Clock Tower. The wear will destroy any spikes on contact, and allow you to obtain the Skeleton Key.
* Travel to the upper-eastern part of Skyfall Shrine where that red door was. With the Skeleton Key in your inventory, it should open, allowing you to procure the Astral Sword.
* Travel to the eastern part of the Distorted Forbidden Cave where that red door was. With the Skeleton Key in your inventory, it should open. Be prepared to face a wave of tough enemies before getting to the final treasure though. You'll also need to have at least 5,000 total enemy kills before you can open the block containing the Chaos Flower.
