Let's Play Mega Man 10 - Final thoughts
I discuss how I feel about Mega Man 10 and the various parts that it comprises.
In summary:
- Levels: Pretty good. The best Robot Master stages are probably Sheep Man and Blade Man, while the worst is Commando Man, mainly because the sandstorms get dull pretty quickly. The Wily stages are actually quite good, probably the best in the series; Wily Stage 5 is lame, but I wouldn't expect much from it anyway. The special stages are all right design-wise but very much suffer from only being available on Time Attack mode, where there are no checkpoints or extra lives.
- Bosses: Fine. Notably, this game doesn't have any really tough bosses like many other Mega Man games do; even the ones that I struggled the most with still feel fair for the most part and doable with just the default weapon, and aside from possibly Enker, they don't seem to depend too much on RNG nor hit obnoxiously hard.
- Weapons: Could be better. The Water Shield and Triple Blade are good, the Wheel Cutter and Rebound Striker are okay, the Commando Bomb and Solar Blaze are mediocre, and the Chill Spike and Thunder Wool suck. Also, too many of the special weapons can only have one active shot.
- Music: Very good. All eight Robot Master themes are decent at worst, most of the Wily stage themes are good, the special stage themes aren't bad either, and neither are the boss themes. While I think Mega Man 3's soundtrack hits its ceiling more often, Mega Man 10 is more consistent. Favorite stage themes are Solar Man and Wily Stage 2.
- Story: Hokey even for this series, but it doesn't much matter.
In any case, that's all I have for this game. See you next project!
