Well, here I am with another game, in any case, quicker than probably anyone (including me) expected. I've decided to play Mickey's Magical Quest (technically, the full title is "The Magical Quest Starring Mickey Mouse", but that's a bit of a mouthful), which is a SNES platformer that, as you may have guessed, stars Mickey Mouse. There are actually three Magical Quest games, although the third one was only released in Japan, at least on the SNES, and even the ROM is incredibly difficult to find. They have pretty much the same basic gameplay: go through six or seven multi-part stages, each with a boss and most with a midboss, to reach and defeat the final boss, Pete (in whatever form he may be). Who says Disney cartoons are only for kids? If you're a fan of the SNES (I know I am) and enjoy 2D platformers (I know I do), then you should give the games a try. The only real drawback about them is that they have no save system, so you have to play the game all the way from the beginning every time you turn off the console. But that's not about to stop us, is it?

After the short introductory plot sequence at the beginning of the game, we start off in a magical land high above the ground, in the treetops and clouds. It can actually be rather tricky for a first stage; the game on the whole isn't really all that difficult, but it at least starts off harder than something like Super Mario Bros. There are four areas in this stage, a midboss at the end of 1-2, and a big boss at the end of 1-4 (which is actually *just* the boss without really anything before it). You'll mostly be up against vanishing cloud platforms, thorns, and these enemies I call "fairy bugs". The boss is a giant caterpillar with Pete's face that likes to try to squish you underneath it.

With this up, I now have two sets of videos to work on for the first time. Let's see what comes of this...
