It's not every day that you can find a game from the turn of the century that still works out of the box but NHL 2001 is certainly user friendly. It also happens to have a healthy mod community that is taking this two-decade old game and updating it for this season. From updated rosters, faces, jerseys, arenas, play-by-play and more, the modders of NHL 2001 have taken this game from the start of EA Sports' arcade-style NHL game era to this season.

So let's take a look back at another classic retro hockey game with a modern twist and look at NHL 2001.

NHL 2001 is an arcade-style hockey game based on the then-upcoming 2000-01 NHL season developed by EA Canada and published by EA Sports on the PlayStation (for the final time), the PlayStation 2 (for the first time) and Windows PC.
