On October 11, 2012, Of Orcs and Men was released by Focus Home Interactive. Developed jointly by Cyanide and Spiders, the game is a third-person over-the-shoulder (3OTS) action-strategy RPG. The game uses the in-house Silk Engine, developed by Spiders.
Controls are the standard gaming mechanics on the PC, such as WASD, with A and D strafing / sliding to the sides. During combat, a tactics wheel is displayed, allowing you to select a chain of skills to employ. The Tab key switches (in and out of combat) between Arkail, the large orc Bloodjaw (berserker-warrior) and the goblin rogue Styx.
For decades the war waged by the human emperor Damocles resulted in the slaughter and enslavement of orcs and goblins (the "green skins") in the south. Finally pushed far enough to demand their freedom, a large-scale campaign is undertaken: small groups of orcs, goblins, and their allies will try to infiltrate the human lands, locate the throne, and eliminate the Emperor.
