Let’s Play Overlord II - Episode 15: The Minion Massacre of Everlight
0After everything we’ve been through- getting those four keystones in order to open that gate, sneaking into the Everlight facility in order to get the Green Hive, and defeating that giant Spider Queen- we’ve finally made it to our destination: the beachside resort that the Empire is using as their capital in the region. However, as you can tell from the title, taking over this territory won’t be as easy as when we conquered Nordberg. Sure, it goes just as smoothly at first- we lose the occasional Minion along the way, but nothing too bad- but then we get to the end.
Unlike Nordberg in which we simply had to push over a statue in order to dispose of Borius, if we want to take down the leader of this area, the Everlight Governess, we’ll have to complete a puzzle section involving defeating legions in order to get to her- a puzzle section that I always struggle with when I play this game and can never get through without losing a ton of Minions in the process. Granted, one reason for this is that I tend to get tunnel vision when doing this puzzle and focus all of my effort on the larger legion guarding the path leading to the Evernight Governess, but also because with how Minion recalling works, even if you blow the horn in this puzzle, sometimes the Minions will keep fighting the legion, resulting in them dying despite your best efforts to call them back.
So if you want to complete this puzzle without losing a good chunk of your Minions like I did, complete the following steps:
1.) With some Browns, use the narrow walkways to get over to and destroy the archers and tents.
2.) After rearranging your army to consist mostly of Greens, put them on a marker and position them behind the smaller legion so that they can jump on their backs. As this happens, attack them yourself to speed up the process.
3.) Target one of the red explosive barrels in the area that the smaller legion was guarding and send a Minion to grab it and (while making sure to keep an eye on the barrel’s timer) rush it over to the larger legion and place it right behind them. Do this until most of the legionaries are dead. Alternatively, swap out your greens for Reds and have them defeat the centurion, making it where the larger legion becomes a bunch of sitting ducks for your Reds.
4.) Walk up to the Everlight Governess, brainwash or kill her, and win at life.
