As continue to collect Towerheart shards as we make our way through the Wastelands, we’re approached by Fey who offers to form an alliance with us since we’re both enemies of the Empire and she’s finally come to the realization that her army of hippies are (to the surprise of absolutely no one) no match for them. Though while Fey appears to be extending an olive branch, I can’t help but feel that she’s being passive-aggressive about it on the grounds that she sends Florian of all people to help us find the remaining Towerheart shards- Florian, the grating petaphile Elf that even my game doesn’t like to the point where it briefly froze out of revulsion the second he started approaching us.
And the real kicker is that Florian doesn’t even help you retrieve any of the shards. That’s right; despite knowing exactly where the shards are and being completely immune to the magic ooze, Florian feels the best course of action is to simply lead us to the shards’ locations. Frankly, if Fey wanted to convince the Fourth Overlord to form an alliance with her, why didn’t she just have Florian collect the remaining shards (or at least as many as he could get his hands on) before approaching us? Not only would that allow us to have more time to prepare an attack on the Empire, but it would also make it where the Fourth Overlord would be more inclined to accept the offer since he wouldn’t be able to get the remaining shards without having to go through Fey and her army of magical creatures.
