We're getting out of this cave today! We battle a few more Rocket goons, and another Nerd. We battle him for a fosil, and I choose the Helix fossil.

Now that we're out of Mt. Moon, we teach Sparky (Pikachu) Mega Punch from a karate guy. Then we heal up in Cerulean City, and head towards Nugget Bridge where we encounter Gary. Once we defeat him again, we start to battle trainers on the bridge, and will go pay Bill a visit as we were told by Gary.
