Let’s Play Ravenloft Strahd’s Possession #38: Infiltrating Strahd’s Castle
218This is my first playthrough through this game. Kindly avoid posting spoilers in the comments or solutions to puzzles either in this video or future ones so as not to spoil the experience for me or those that haven’t seen the game before.
The group now know the truth of Strahd’s condition, something that the player has known from the very start. To say that neither the setting nor the game is subtle about the enigmatic counts undead nature is an understatement; the setting seeps with the gothic aesthetic vampire stories are infamous for, the count let slip numerous clues during our dinner with him about his nature and, most importantly, he’s on the title screen of the game in his vampiric guise.
Speaking of his castle, that’s where the group is going next. Though their intentions are to confront the vampire lord and slay him, it’s unlikely that Strahd isn’t going to be so easily cornered by his enemies. Better to have his minions oppose us instead, stalwart guardians that are likely more than a match for a ragtag group of adventurers. Unfortunately for Strahd, we’ve grown a lot stronger since our brief time travelling together in the cave where the ‘portal’ resides. This gives us the element of surprise, something we won’t squander as we search the castle for artefacts, allies and clues on how to defeat the count once and for all.
