Let's Play Scourge of Armagon Remastered #11: Welcome to the Void
Of all the Quake games that exist, the two that I have the most experience with is the first and the third. Quake 3 isn't a single player game, however; it's a multiplayer game with heavy single player vs AI elements that is very similar to Unreal Tournament and yet not. The 'not' comes from the fact that Quake 3 is a far faster game and one that didn't really gel with me that much. I don't know what it was about Unreal Tournament but its gameplay, aesthetics, music – oh my, the music – and the fact that you could play as a badass robot won me over.
That aside, the secret level in this episode is very reminiscent of one of the levels in Quake 3, so much so that I wonder if it was used as inspiration for it. What this level has that the multiplayer map doesn't, however, is a huge amount of enemies that appear out of nowhere and cause untold trouble to Ranger. We have lots of weapons at our disposal but will they be enough when we can literally get swarmed at a moments notice?
