28I'm rather annoyed at dying so often at a section that's usually pretty easy. That said, even now, I can't see a general strategy to this boss other than "hit it more than it hits you". The boss fires too many bullets on this difficulty level for my usual strategy to work... so... yeah. Will need to rethink it at some point.
That said, out of all the first bosses I've played, this is probably one of the most jarring difficulty wise, along with the first boss in the Master System/Game Gear Sonic 2. At this point, the player would have had to figure out that you can "fly", which is the only way you can avoid the arm, and even then it still shoots bullets at you. The boss has one of the more noticeable changes to all the boss battles, but the others have been changed too.
