Trying to profit from our problem introduces a whole new set of problems: our contact sells us out, out, we get mugged for the artifact and scanner, and we wake up as a chew toy in an anomaly field. An inauspicious start to our journey, to be sure. The silver lining is that stalkers are a relatively small community, and Solder and his boys should stand out to someone. A passing samaritan teaches us how to use bolts to probe anomalies (which takes a few tries) and then points us to a nearby settlement. It's as good a place as any to start looking. Really, if we had better options we wouldn't be in the Zone in the first place.

Along the way are some chances to ingratiate ourselves with the locals - namely, by killing the more belligerent locals. In my defense, they're the 'shoot first, ask questions never' kind of folk, and sometimes your only path to new gear is freshly pre-owned, if you follow. Time to start living up to the acronym!
