At first, I did some of the desert area and made it to the healing fountain, but then I received an email from Sara (the dev) telling me that there are actually optional bosses in previous gate areas. That surprised me, since I thought the Majin would have confronted me in mandatory battles.
After each Majin battle, your party will temporarily enter a powered up state until they exit to the world map. You can take this opportunity to grind quicker
Remember the broken bridge in the Wind Gate area? It's fixed now, allowing further exploration of the cave.
Boss: Marionnettiste [ 10:17 ]
Fire doesn't seem to be a good option against the minions. The leader itself is fairly easy, but watch out for when it charges up a Radiance spell that hits the whole party.
In the Water Gate dungeon, you'll find a passage leading underwater. Fortunately, there's no need to worry about oxygen.
Boss: Thanatos [ 18:37 ]
This boss seems to mainly use Darkness+ and some poison moves. It might help to bring Holy due to her resistance to dark, though she'll probably have to resort to physical attacks if Thanatos is also resistant.
Boss: Graouth [ 27:08 ]
This boss is not an avian like I assumed. Still, my wrong assumption led to me find its weakness to paralysis, which Kim can inflict.
Boss: Feure [ 35:49 ]
Despite being lower-ranked than Astria, this boss is much harder. Also, I keep pronouncing it's name wrong. I had to bring mostly physical attackers because the boss can inflict berserk on the party and its hand minions like to use magic reflect. I recommend saving this boss until after the Fire Gate, especially if you nabbed the secret recruitable characters, one of which has the most physical power.
