Let's Play Starward Rogue: AuGMENTED - #40: Zephyr on Extended Normal (1)
1In this part of Starward Rogue: AuGMENTED, I start using the Windless Zephyr mech on the Extended Normal mode. This is one of the three new mechs added with this expansion. Full disclosure, I got a free copy from Arcen Games to LP this game and its expansion.
The Zephyr Mech is effectively a speedrunner mech. It has below average health, two shields, average attack, range, and energy, and a below average missile capacity. It starts out with the Rapid Zeph Pistol, the Chakram, a regular Missile Launcher, and the Need For Speed Perk. The later perk is the main gimmick of this mech. This boosts the mech's attack power, fire rate, and speed by 50%. However, the bonuses degrade by 10% for every minute on a floor, only resetting upon reaching a new floor.
In effect, this heavily incentives players to complete the floors quickly in order to maintain the firepower bonuses. And due to that, it promotes a much more aggressive playstyle. For skilled players, it allows them to tear through the game rather quickly. The main challenges here are making sure the hull doesn't incur too much damage, while proceeding quickly enough.
Unlike before, floors 1 through 4 went by swimmingly with this mech. The only real trouble spots were the bosses for floors 2 and 3. Then again, they were gold floor bosses. So, it was to be expected.
