A full playthrough of Streets of Rage 4 Story Mode, on the new Mania Plus difficulty added by the Mr. X Nightmare DLC. We will walkthrough each stage in turn, showing all gameplay with a side helping of funny, sarcastic commentary. I will be using each character in turn, showcasing the new characters added by the DLC, and the new alternate moves added to the existing characters.

This video features Cherry, Floyd, Adam, Estel and Max gameplay.

Mania+ is exceptionally difficulty, forcing you to start each level with 0 extra lives whilst also tuning up the enemies in every way imaginable. They are faster, stronger and more numerous with quicker reactions than ever before. SoR4's combo system allows us to rack up ever increasing points provided we don't get hit and don't wait too long inbetween attacks. These points are required to earn extra lives, and due to Mania +'s difficulty these extra lives are almost necessary. This all combines to add a lot of tension into the gameplay, as flawless execution is required to earn bonus lives. A single hit can ultimately spiral into ruin.

Streets of Rage 4 is a beat 'em up game for Steam that continues the classic Sega Megadrive / Genesis series. In my opinion it's one of the best game revivals of recent times. It captures a lot of what was enjoyable from the old games, polishes everything up and slaps on a ton of replayability. I can't recommend it enough, and to be honest if I have free time when I'm not working on another project lately; it's probably spent playing SoR4. It's that good.

This game is incredibly difficult but it is also incredibly fun. The challenge offered here is fantastic, especially compared to 'Mania' difficult that existed since launch. Mania was too easy for my tastes, Mania+ is not. Every enemy is a threat and every combat is exciting.

This series will continue until the whole game is completed, no matter how long it takes. Hopefully you'll join me for that, and I shall see you then.
