You thought my next Let's Play would be Alien Isolation, but it was me, The Banner Saga! In the seminal episode of my Banner Saga playthrough, we take a look at the opening sequence to learn about the story for a very brief moment before jumping right into the game.

The Banner Saga has a turn-based tactics layer, a continuous strategy layer, and a storytelling cutscene like dialogue mode.

The turn-based combat is simple, but fun. It uses a health system similar to that of Betrayal at Krondor or Darklands, wherein your character's ability to attack is affected by their health. The Banner Saga gives this its own spin, also adding an armor mechanic to give the combat a little more depth.

The strategic gameplay and dialogue are very similar. Both involve making choices based on the situation. This is reminiscent of The King of Dragon Pass, but the choices involved in The Banner Saga don't seem to have as much complexity or a major impact on the overall game.

Nonetheless, I've been having a lot of fun playing the Banner Saga, and I hope you'll enjoy watching! Oh, and sorry if my voice sounds a little weird. I'm using a new recording setup, and I have to edit out the loud fans of my new PC, which also affects the sound of my voice.
