Let’s Play The Swapper #03: Light, Block the Way
This is a blind playthrough. Kindly avoid posting spoilers in the comments or solutions to puzzles either in this video or future ones so as not to spoil the experience for me or those that haven’t seen the game before.
Like any puzzle game, mechanics are slowly added the further we go into it. Each new thing complicates future puzzles that little bit more, forcing you to think not just about what the new thing does but also how it interacts with all the mechanics you’ve learned previously. We’ve already been exposed to the cloning mechanic, teleportation and how buttons and lifts work but there’s another thing that is very important: lights.
Lights aren’t just used for seeing things in this game. Certain colourations of light interact with our clone creation and teleporting abilities, forcing us to either find a way to circumvent or shut off those lights to get what we want in that area. Said thing is often a security orb which is needed to progress to the next ‘area’ of the game and learn new mechanics, though those orbs prompt questions of their own. How do they float? Why do all the coloured lights in the room turn off when you grab them and how are we able to carry something so huge without any difficulty?
