Let's Play UFO: Enemy Unknown (1994), aka. X-Com: UFO Defense - Episode 27
UFO: Enemy Unknown (or if you're American, X-Com: UFO Defense) kickstarted one of the most iconic tactical squad combat franchises ever made, most commonly referred to as 'X-Com'. In its more than two decade long history, the franchise has spawned a dozen or so direct sequels, spin-offs and reboots, the latest being 'X-Com 2'.
Throughout nearly all the games, the core elements and backdrop remains the same - you take charge of a small group of elite soldiers, scientists and engineers tasked with fighting back an unknown, far more powerful alien invader.
The 1994 original was - and remains - one of the best games ever made, despite a handful of quaint bugs and some oddities when playing the game on modern systems (such as the thick black frame in my version). While you'll quickly miss many of the quality-of-life improvements 23 years of franchise development and generic interface design has provided, it is certainly a worthwhile game to play even today. If you're so inclined, there are fan-made mods and improvements hiding out there on the interwebs.
As I'm rusty and usually played the save-scumming way back in the day, this playthrough will be limited to 'Veteran' difficulty, and I reserve the right to re-start a mission if I lose my entire squad.
