We've turned the major agent so no matter what happens, the crime isn't going to happen. This easing of the pressure means we can turn our attention towards turning other participants and, more importantly, finding and arresting the mastermind. Of course, they're not going to sit around and just let us do that. Okay, they ARE going to sit around but they aren't going to just let us do that, on account of the huge guard detail they possess.

And my, you must never underestimate those guards. Masterminds start with a lot of them and can summon a lot more really quickly if you try to whittle them down and get caught. What's worse, they tend to be faster on the draw and more likely to fling grenades about even on the difficulty I'm playing at. I can only imagine how terrible they are at the highest difficulty, something we may see me utterly fail at at some point.
