The Gorkha swamp is less of a town and more a self-contained dungeon. While it does have shops and NPCs - some of which are essential to completing the game - the place also has monsters that are quite difficult to kill with the weapons we've got. The saving grace is that they don't deal a lot of damage and there are plenty of relatively safe places to rest.

The main danger in the swamps is accidentally walking into one of the pits of swamp ooze and drowning. The swamp gas can poison people as well as set one of your companions to sleep (it never seems to be Keiran that is affected by it) but all in all it's not a terribly dangerous place if you're careful.
