Returning to Wendel so we can talk to Cibba is easy enough, but there's one other thing we can do at this point. Hidden away in a seemingly unimportant cave is an extremely difficult boss fight that we're going to fight well before we should because this point is when I've always fought it. When the map opened up the first time I got to this part of the game, I explored everywhere I could and came across this boss first. Thinking that I'd found an optional boss that'd drop something awesome upon defeating it, I quickly discovered how absurdly challenging it was compared to Dark Lord and the Chimera. Being young I didn't stop to ponder if I was trying to defeat this boss out of sequence and so tried my best to win and I did, eventually. After many, many attempts.

There's certainly a strategy to winning this fight without too much difficulty but it takes quick reactions and far better equipment then I have to do so reliably. Without the blood sword this fight is even harder but not to be outdone by my younger self, I've found a unintentional side effect to one of our magic spells that certainly evens the odds in our favour. If that's enough to see us through to victory is another matter.

Provided we're victorious, it'll be a simple matter of going to see Cibba and being told where to seek the sacred sword that'll surely triumph over Julius, as nothing will go wrong whatsoever at this point. After all, it's not like the game to elongate play by adding a seemingly random obstacle in the pass of progress that can only be overcome by going through a dungeon halfway across the map and defeating a boss, not at all.

Oh wait. That's exactly what the game would do, isn't it? Oh dear.

Oh well, let's go and find out how fate has conspired against Jym this time, shall we?
