BEACON is a neat game! It's a roguelike where you mutate yourself with DNA picked up from mobs you kill during your run(s). Any unused DNA is dumped into your progress meter to unlock more weapons and accessories. The combat is fluid, the visuals are interesting (if a little muddy during manic combat scenarios), and the whole thing feels really satisfying to play. There's a couple things I'd add, such as a map that could differentiate between new/old areas as well as elevation, but overall it's a pretty interesting game.
Card Hog.. I didn't quite GET Card Hog. You play as a hog on an adventure. You move around a grid of cards, which do various things: add combat power to your hog, restore heath, hurt you, etc. You have to navigate the grid until eventually a door shows up and you can get through it and complete the level. It didn't click for me, and I really felt like I was just moving my cards aimlessly. That's probably more of a me problem then the game. It could use a bit more of an intro; it feels like it just dumps you right in it from the get go.
Retromancer is Geometry Wars, except there's pixels instead of vectors, and basically no geometry. You pick a character type, get dumped in a map, and are tasked with 2 things: kill everything and don't die. That's it! It's simple, it's manic, and you die _real fast._ All of your points can be dumped into unlocks to change the game. It's not bad. It also features 4 player co-op, which is probably bonkers, and I'd love to see it.
