Headliner: NoviNews is a decision driven game in the same vein as Papers, Please. You play as the Headliner, a news editor of a national news channel. Every day you can determine what stories to run. Some will cast the nationalist government in a positive light while others will encourage a more globalist view. Everything from the police, to pharmaceuticals, to synthetic beer, and even some 'unofficial' reports, you control not only the narrative of your channel but the narrative of the country. Plus a story the sponsors like, get paid more. However, cast them in a negative light and you earn less.

Your decisions don't just affect you though. You interact with a cast of characters, from your anxiety-ridden brother who dreams of being a comedic star to a struggling shop owner and his daughter, what you broadcast has a direct impact on the people around you. Even the aesthetic of the city and the conversations of the people you pass change depending on what you do.

The truth is, while I enjoyed it, I ultimately didn't keep the game. That doesn't stop me from not recommending it though. If you are looking for a thought-provoking, dialogue-heavy game, that offers morally grey decisions and outcomes that also is wonderfully written and relevant to our modern era, you should absolutely give Headliner: NoviNews a try.
