Let's Try: Plunge
2I picked this up in the massive itch.io bundle. This game scratches a couple weirdly specific itches that center around combat, strategy, and puzzle-solving.
The levels seem to be somewhat randomly generated (though each level has a theme and some constants), which means you can get faster at getting through them as you learn. There's a risk-reward system in play with killing certain mobs for bonus drops, as well as using enemy skills against other enemies. There are boss battles as well as consumable potions and character perks that can be applied via shops while in the dungeon.
The game itself is extremely stylish in an odd-ball sort of way, and I really dig the restricted neon palette the game operates in. It all feels a little off, but intentionally so. Really solid art direction.
It all comes together to create a really satisfying experience, especially when you get into the grove of things. I'm going to come back to Plunge and do a Let's play series on it, that's for sure.
