I picked this game up from the Racial Justice bundle from itch.io.

Oh boy was this not the game for me! I'll admit that I'm not into the horror genre much, and when I do play horror stuff, I much prefer existential dread as opposed to 'there's an unkillable thing chasing you' sort of horror. It's a kind of artificial pressure that, for me, does not add to the joy of playing the game. I know it works for some people but not me.

In any case, The Subject takes place in a wonderful future where the prison industrial complex connects with extreme late-stage capitalism. You are a prisoner and you've been sold to someone for them to do as they wish. That's how it works now. You're dumped into a training facility and given instructions. After that it sorta... it gets vague. At one point you will, by your own actions, release a scary, unkillable monster that wanders the halls whilst you have to continue doing... whatever it is you need to do. It also features a 3D slider puzzle that you have to solve in the first person so... that's awful.

As stated above, having a thing chasing after me or just being a general threat that I can't deal with is ... not my kind of fun. Neither are slider puzzles. This game really struck out on my personal tastes. Still, I tried it and at least I can say that.
