Full disclosure: I was given a key for this game by Terminals.io.

When the fall of man comes and goes, who will inherit the earth? Beavers, apparently!

That's the premise (don't quote me on that) of Timberborn, a city builder/survival game about beavers building a new society. You have to build homes, farm food, and innovate in order to survive. You are also at the whims of nature, as the water you depend on periodically dries up. You have to manage your time and resources to make sure you can weather the dry periods. You also need to make your population happy, healthy, and thriving by doing research and unlocking new buildings that bring joy to your beaverfolk and more complex actions.

Overall, this game is a treat. I'm not usually one to play survival management games often, but Timberborn rides the line of survival and chill city builder really well. It's not punishing, but it's also not all daisies (or dandelions for that matter). There are also difficulty settings if you'd like to move the needle in either direction, as well as a variety of maps that require you to adapt your way of thinking.

Sadly in this installment I didn't get a chance to try out the Iron Teeth, a second faction that operate very differently than the default faction, but I'm hoping to revisit that later.
