16Let's Play Yooka Laylee Part 6! Our playthrough / walkthrough of the game continues! We revisit Shipwreck Creek and Batship Crazy before setting back to Tribalstack Tropics and checking in with our pal Sir Scoffsalot! Oh, we also continue playing the game! You know, collecting Pagies and Quills and the like.
After unlocking a Grand Tome by spending your Pagies, you won’t unlock the entire world from the get go. You need to spend some more Pagies to expand the levels it and gain full access to every challenge and some new areas, too.
These are our first impressions of the first level and beginning sections of the game, so it's blind gameplay from here.
We're playing Yooka Laylee on the PS4, but I may pick it up again for NIntendo Switch once it comes out. I really wanted to have this one on a NIntendo console since it's such a love letter to the nostalgic Rare playtformers / collect-a-thon style from the N64 era. We're in love with those old games, and I can't wait to review what Yooka Laylee has to offer us in episode 1! Today we're looking at the starting area Shipwreck Creek, the early hub world in Hivory Towers and Tribalstack Tropics!
Yooka-Laylee (formerly codenamed Project Ukulele) is a upcoming 3D platformer and action-adventure video game in development by Playtonic Games, comprised mostly of former Rare, Ltd. alumni. The game is a spiritual successor to the Banjo-Kazooie series, and basically Banjo-Threeie!
This story begins with Yooka and Laylee living in Shipwreck Creek until they discover a magical book that, much to their dismay, is stolen and shredded. The culprit is the dastardly tycoon Capital B, a business baron with a devious scheme to use Dr. Quack's invention, the Noveliser 64, to absorb all of the world's books and have a monopoly over the book industry. However, some one hundred "Pagies" seem to have escaped
