Level Editing - Descent 1 & 2 - ADG Mod 5
Cubes were more popular in gaming than you likely thought... ;)
For today's Ancient DOS Games Mod video, Gemini's providing an overview of Descent and Descent II level editing using DLE, the Descent Level Editor. This isn't so much a tutorial video, rather a breakdown of how levels in Descent are built and the basics of how the editor works and what to keep in mind when making your own levels.
The end result of this video is a fully functional level you can download and play for yourself! Just follow this link if you wish to download it: http://www.pixelships.com/adg/files/adgdescentmap.zip

Additional Information and Corrections:
* If you want to download the Descent Level Editor and try it for yourself, simply follow this link: http://www.descent2.de/dle-intro.html
* If you'd prefer to give the classic DEVIL a try instead, follow this link: http://sdldevil.sourceforge.net/
* There's a couple important things I forgot to bring up in the video, one of which is stability. DLE is not perfectly stable and will occasionally crash, typically when you go to do something unusual, so make sure to save often!
* The other important thing to note is how undo works in DLE. When you first look at the settings for undo, you'll notice it tracks a seemingly ridiculous number of undo steps. This is because each individual change is considered one step. So if you were to mark 20 walls and change their textures all at once, that's technically 20 undo steps if you decide you made a mistake.
