Leveler & Dragonfly combo and Building a Front line base in Tempest Rising multiplayer gameplay
These are new matches and tactics from Tempest Rising’s multiplayer and a showcase of how strong Tempest Dynasty’s air force is with a Leveler + Dragonfly combo and also how you can build forward operating bases, FOB for short, to press an opponent and shorten your supply lines in battles. You can take map control with a well placed forward base using neutral buildings or dynasty salvage vans as a foundation for your FOB.

The way I started this match was to go with a machine shop near the tempest field to produce and send rigs to harvest as fast as possible. The Barracks is next to produce an engineer and troops to garnison bunkers to protect the Tempest processing center I want to capture with my engineer. Only then do I go for the Power plant with the aim to use the Security Plan and reduce cost of units and buildings.
The second power plant is needed as a Tempest Rig spends power in its building form when it is refining tempest. I also double down with infantry to make sure I can occupy and hold both bunkers at the Tempest processing center. The good thing is that the Dynasty Guard unit is much faster than the engineer, so even if you recruit the engineer first, the Guard unit will overtake it before they reach a potential combat situation.
Since the bunkers were not occupied I was already fairly sure I wasn't playing against GDF but another Tempest Dynasty player, meaning a mirror match. I actually spent some time thinking about whether I should go forward with more infantry or vehicles but in the end decided to construct another machine shop and start making faster vehicles.
I also wanted to capture the nearest Mission control center because it would be the ideal place for a new machine shop so the slow harvester rigs could be produced right next to a Tempest Field instead of back at the base and then have to travel so slooooowly to a new tempest field. This is something I am trying to do in more matches as too often I end up just producing Tempest Rigs back at my main base and then they travel forever to distant new tempest fields.
Naturally in a match that went on for over 15 minutes I had teched up to levelers myself and started to produce them, but I needed to have a way of dealing with his too. Interestingly enough we both had armies on their way to each other's bases but on different paths which only the air units could gap so I was thinking of sending my ground forces forward while leaving the rest to fight off his air units. But by the time I set that up his levelers were upon me.
A short fight ensued in which the infantry died in seconds to levelers barrages but then my opponent came in with half a dozen dragonflies which started making short work of my levelers. My control over units was terrible here as all I was using was the Q command to take control of all the active units on the map, instead of using at last ALT + Q to select just air units or better yet to group my dragonflies into a control group 3 for example and use them all at the same time.
A combo of a Field Infirmary and a deployed salvage van is one of the best tricks in the Tempest Dynasty’s arsenal and something I used to great effect in this particular match against an opponent using the GDF faction.
I wanted a choke point as a place for an engagement, deployed my salvage van and then proceeded to keep backing off so I could expand on this forward base and bring reinforcements. The salvage van’s building armor when it is deployed is resistant to both the weapon attack type of the sentinel and hunter tank, making it ideal to soak up damage.
